I had managed to secure a couple of days off work, well almost as I needed to work in the evening, and Lauren really wanted to go to Flamingo Land. This is a theme park and zoo just outside Malton.
We loaded up and got there for about 10:30 and headed into the park. James was super excited to see all the rides, especially as there are loads that he could do to. Lauren and Thomas had stopped to pick up breakfast so whilst we waited for them, we headed onto the first ride.
James and mummy were in their element. The little man did not back away from any rides and was even measuring himself for some of the bigger rides, telling me that he was going to come back soon when he was bigger to go on them. Mummy, on the other hand, was easily tall enough and off she went.
There is a racing track there where you control the car. James and I jumped into one and mummy into the other. Of course James and I won easily, not sure mummy knew which pedal to press. James launched a tirade of smack talk all the way round, just to remind her she was losing.
After the racing we grabbed something to eat and headed over to the zoo and play areas to let our dinner settle. There is a cable car to take you there and James loved the views from the top.
Having had enough of the children’s rides and itching to get on the big stuff again I sent the other three off. This meant James and I could explore all the other rides together. Having not spent much time with him for the past few week, for various reasons, it was lovely to go round all the rides with him. We went on every ride that he was big enough for. So much fun and his little face lit up as he shouted ‘faster, faster’ on every rollercoaster!
As the day drew to an end, everyone wanted to go on the log flume. I say everyone, I personally had no intentions of getting soaked, so offered to look after the bags, perfect excuse.
Everyone came of soaking! One quick change of clothes for James and we headed to our last ride. Lauren took James on one last rollercoaster whilst Lyns and I had a couple of goes on the massive chair swing that towers over the park. I loved it, not so sure about Lyns though as she squealed all the way through both turns. Can only be sounds of excitement, right?
