Alnwick Gardens with Friends

I am afraid to say, another blog of our holiday is here, bored yet? You will all be glad to know there is only one more left, so look out for that soon.

In the middle of our holiday we headed over to Alnwick to meet some friends who had come up to Northumberland for the day, We had been to Alnwick Garden with them before a few years ago when there boys were little and there were only the two of them!

With Covid restrictions in full force, we had booked our entry time. Due to an event that involved leg swinging and singing, i’ll leave that one up to your imaginations, our friends were running late, so we were worried that we would miss our booked slot. No need to panic though as they were very lax when we got there. As it turned out we all arrived in the nick of time.

What are these holes in the floor?

Oooooo dear!

Arrrrggggghhhhhhh!

Having soaked the boys to the skin within a few minutes of arriving we set off to explore. The boys all loved it with the water, mazes and generally places to run around and cause chaos.

Even Lyns got involved in the chaos causing.

So close to another soaking.

King of the funny faces!

There was some kind of dinosaur thing going on while we were there but, I am ashamed to say, i can not for the life of me remember what it was. No matter though, as the kids loved it. There were pretend eggs and all manner of different dinosaurs.

At one point we can across a lovely secluded little pond with several people sat around making the most of the peace and quiet. Well that did not last long. The three little men ran round and round and round and round that pond. How they did not get dizzy, I will never know. The people sat round the pond ended up being the cheering crowd. It was like what I imagine the Colosseum would have been like. Ok, Ok, maybe not quite, but you get the idea.

After tiring everyone out, we went for a chilled out walk round the poisoned garden. Here there are all sorts of plants that can be deadly, or are grown under a license. Examples being cannabis and the caster oil plant, home of ricin! There was lots of double checking little hands were not touching anything.

With that our day was over. There had been rain and sunshine, fun and laughter and we had all had an amazing time. We headed back up to Bamburgh to enjoy our last few days, whilst our friends headed back to York.
