Yorkshire Wildlife Park and other Animals

With lockdown beginning to ease, we took the opportunity to meet up with some friends we had not seen since before all the craziness began. With some of our friends travelling from Manchester, we decided to meet at the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, somewhere we had not been since last year.

We arrived early and sat down and had a coffee. I am so glad we did get their early as, although apparently the site was operating on ‘reduced numbers’, by the end of the day, it was as busy as we had ever seen it. To compound things, half the toilets were closed off so it was an absolute nightmare at times.

After we had all arrived, we had some chill out time, enjoying a drink and catching up whilst the children ran round and let off some steam. It was lovely to see them playing together.

After a bit of craziness, we headed off to see the animals. This time, we did not manage to lose James in the wallabies. We saw polar bears, tigers, lions, all sorts and all before lunch.

Ooooo - look at me!

Once tummies started rumbling, we headed to the picnic area so Lydia could demolish some doughnuts, I mean, we could have our lunch. Luckily I managed to talk Lyns and Nigel out of buying sixty doughnuts, twenty were more than enough.

After lunch we all had another half hour of craziness, hide and seek was on the cards.

With energy spent, we headed back to see some more animals. This time I even managed to take some pictures of them, well the slow moving ones anyway!

With that, the day was over and we rounded up our own sleepy wild animals to take home. They were exhausted having spent all day running around.

It was lovely to catch up with friends we had not seen in so long, fingers crossed things continue to improve and we can have lots more days out like this.
