As the Sun Bids Farewell

So today saw rain and wind arrive. The weather was truly miserable all day. Grandad and I had planned to do a tour of the Harris Distillery today, however, due to the weather so had all the visitors to the island so there were no spaces available on any of the tours! Disaster. The original plan was that Lyns and Granny would head to the Harris Tweed shop and exhibition whist we were on the tour then we would meet for lunch. Cancel that, so Grandad and I headed off to find the Tweed shop.

There is a small exhibition was interesting and there were lots of different things in the shop ranging from coats to hats to iPhone covers. James spent his pocket money on a woolly hat. After everyone had made a few purchases, it was time to head out for lunch.

I cannot remember the name of the restaurant we had lunch in but it is between Harris Tweed and Leverburgh set on the side of the road. There is a gallery there as well with some lovely pieces of art in. The food was delicious, we all had sandwiches with a bowl of soup and it was very tasty. By this point the wind was difficult to stand in and the rain was horizontal, but not particularly cold. After lunch I headed out to take a few pictures, but the weather was not helpful and after soaking everything, camera included I gave up.

The writing was on the wall for the good weather today, or, as it turned out, on the restaurant window.

After lunch we headed back to the holiday cottage as the weather was not really suitable to do anything else. We had a nice relaxing afternoon followed by homemade burgers for dinner and a film in the evening after James had gone to bed.

Whilst we had not done a lot in the day, it was a very relaxing day.

The other success I had today was taking some pictures of the Gannets that we can see from the cottage. I would never profess to be good at animal photography, but, I think the pictures below can out rather well.
