Back to the Priory
Back at the start of April, we had all gone to Nostell Priory which is a National Trust property just outside Wakefield. When we had been there Lyns had not been feeling particularly well so we decided to go back so she could enjoy it. We had been singing its praises to our friends Dominique and Gav so they came to join us there for, what would be, a lovely day out.
We all headed out to get there just after opening time, but we arrived a little while before the others. Turns out Gav’s in built sat nav was not quite as effective as the electronic version! Not that it mattered at all as it meant Lyns got to partake in one of her favourite past times, drinking tea.
Once we had all met up we headed into the play area for the boys to burn off some steam. The play area here is amazing and spread over a fairly large area. Personally, I would say, this is the best play area in a National Trust property that we have been to. It has lots of unique play equipment. As I say though, this is just my opinion.
After after a good long play in the park it was time to grab some lunch. We had all brought sandwiches so we found a bench on, what used to be, the house’s lawn and all tucked in. After filling ourselves, we did what any group of people do after a picnic lunch, have a snooze do I hear you say? Nooooo, hide and seek of course. Hilarity ensued as the boys, including one big boy, ran around like crazy things.
After everyone had been found, we went for a walk down to the lake. Unfortunately Dominique caught Gav and Oscar being naughty so she put them both on the naughty step to think about what they had done.
After our walk by the lake it was time for some more tea. We had to build our strength up as there was den building still to do.
The intrepid treasure hunters see what they can find
After a fun hour or so in the woods it was time to think about heading home which was a shame because, as always, the day had flown by far too quickly. We will the back though, I am sure.
