During our holiday to Harris this year, we found a beach we had not been to before. The colours were amazing, but no real subject. I tried introducing some intentional camera movement into my image (I am sure there is an official name for it) and this is what I ended up with. I was really pleased with it as I had not tried this before. Let me know what you think!

Taken during our holiday to the Isle of Harris in Summer 2019. Granny and Grandad were looking after the little man and Lyns wanted to get out of the house to blow the cobwebs away so we headed to one of our favourite places on the Island.

The wind was still blowing hard after the previous day’s storm and the waves were smashing into the shore. I got this picture just as the the sun broke through the clouds for about five minutes and caught the waves beautifully as they broke, the only patch of sunshine to be seen.

I bought a drone for our holiday to the Outer Hebrides in 2019 and it was amazing to get some pictures from unusual angles. I love the simplicity of this image, looking down at the waves gently rolling in one early morning

I took a walk on about the only dry morning of our holiday to the Isle of Harris. I found a lovely beach called little beach and timed my visit just as the sun was starting to hit the waves. It was a lovely, albeit cold, walk with some wonderful views.

My first trip to Bempton Cliffs was special. I love puffins but have never seen one in the wild, until now!!! However, trying to photograph tiny, fast moving birds, takes real skill, something I do not have.

I settled on the, somewhat, easier to photograph gannets and this cheeky chap kept sticking his head up, inviting photographs to be taken, so I obliged.

Staying on the Isle of Harris gave loads of wonderful opportunities to see wildlife that is common there but difficult to see elsewhere. From our cottage, you could see the Gannets diving and fishing out to sea. One morning the weather closed in with strong winds blowing onto the land, pushing the gannets into shore. I grabbed my camera and made the most of the opportunity.

To finish our holiday in the Outer Hebrides, we took a wild life boat trip. We were promised all sorts of wildlife and we were not disappointed. We saw numerous sea birds, dolphins and even an otter.

The trip finished by sailing between some of the islands looking for eagles and I don’t think I have ever seen so many is a short space of time, be it golden eagles sat on crags or White Tailed Sea Eagles, large and imposing.

Then it happened, a moment I shall never forget. One of the juvenile sea eagles flew straight over our heads, almost close enough to touch. In my panic, I pretty much forgot how my camera worked. This is the shot I walked away with, the picture does not matter, the memories of that trip will stay with me forever.

We took a trip to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park, my first visit since the opened the new area. What a change it has made and the park is significantly bigger now.

For us, the star of the show was the red panda. Such a cute animal.

For Lyns’ Christmas present a couple of years ago, I bought her an experience at The Yorkshire Wildlife Park to feed a giraffe as it is her favourite animal.

This is the cheeky chap that barged all the other giraffes out of the way to get at the nettles in Lyns’ hand.

We had a family holiday in Dartmoor last year and I went out for an early walk with my camera. I stumbled upon a herd of Highland Cows grazing away. I have always wanted to get a picture of one of these powerful animals.

Hopefully, someday, I can get a picture of one in Scotland

Another beautiful animal captured whilst on holiday in Dartmoor. I had been out for a run early in the day and had seen a herd of ponies in the distance. After getting back, I headed out with my camera and this beautiful animal came out of the mist to see me.

Having been to Eriskay before I had the idea of an image in my head but never managed to capture it. We have the Dartmoor pony image hanging in our stairwell and it needed another image to go alongside it.

When we were on Eriskay in 2022 I spotted this beautiful black Eriskay pony grazing near our cottage on several occasions. The contrast to the white Dartmoor pony would be perfect. It took me several days but I nailed the perfect shot.

The two pony images are now hanging next to each other in perfect company and look amazing.

Lyns’ little sister had spent all day trying to dodge having her picture taken or pulling funny faces whenever I raised my camera towards her, a rather common reaction for members of my family.

It took most of the day, but when she was not looking I got this beautiful picture of her relaxed and watching what was going on.

A lovely day spent with James, Nana and Grandad at Brimham Rocks. James had so much fun exploring all the rocks and squeezing through the tiny gaps

Whilst camping on the west coast of Scotland we had a visit from Lyns’ little brother and his family.

This little man loved being on the beach, climbing on every pile of rocks he could find. Even though the weather was not great, we all had a wail of a time.
